Initial D box offices in Asian countries has been a success and Media Asia film company has decided to have the original cast including Jay and Edison to star in the sequel "Initial D 2: Racing in the Alps", changing racing venues from Mount Akina in Japan to the snow mountains in Europe.
Initial D the movie started showing in cinemas last thursday, until the day before the movie has received about $17,000,000 in five days. The day before yesterday the cast and crew had a celebration dinner at East Ocean Restaurant in Tsim Sha Tsui, director Alan Mak, cast including Jay Chou, Anthony Wong, Shawn Yue and Kenny Bee all attended. Andrew Lau, Edison Chen and Jordan Chan did not attend as they were out of Hong Kong. The person in charge of Media Asia fil company said that the sequel of the movie will be shot end of next year, and he would fly to Japan in a few days to talk about copyright issues. The intial ideas of the sequel title will be "Initial D 2: racing in the Alps" and it would star the original cast.
Adding in own ideas.Changing the scene from Mount Akina in Japan to the Alps, Alan Mak said, "I hope the sequel would be more international, that's why I first thought of shooting it in Europe, but the story might not follow the original anime/manga, after getting the permission of the author, I hope that I can add some of my own ideas into it. We spent US$10,000,000 (about HK$78,000,000) to shoot the first movie, but within a few days we already received $55,000,000, the result has been pretty good. Just the Japanese port price (?) was already US$5,000,000 (about HK$39,000,000), currently American companies are also thinking of working with Media Asia to shoot a sequel together.
Jay said at the celebration dinner, "The box office of the movie has been good, I am really happy, I watched the movie three times too! I still haven't increased my confidence in acting, my girlfriend did not say anything when she saw my kissing scene with Anne Suzuki, but I think it was memorable."
